Support the Occupiers

October 12, 2011

Dear CODEPINKer,

Feel like cooking up some revolution?
Here's our Recipe for Social Change:

  • Mix a hearty dose of inspiration from Arab uprisings with a heaping spoonful of global dissatisfaction at corporate rule
  • Stir in millions of unemployed people and billions wasted on illegal wars
  • Add a spark on Wall Street, empowered youth, and a generous portion of women's leadership
  • Toss in a teach-in on the cost of war
  • Sprinkle in story-telling and singing
  • Let rise
  • When you start to see a beautiful community emerging, your peace pie is ready!

Serves: The World

When it comes to our economic priorities, it's time for the people to get a bigger slice of the pie than the Pentagon and the corporate profiteers.

Why not bake an "Occu-pie" for your local action? Choose your favorite recipe from our Peace Never Tasted So Sweet cookbook. Help educate your community on how our tax dollars are spent by also taking the federal budget pie flyer.

If sweet pies aren't your thing, bring (or order) a pizza for your fellow protesters. The famous "Occu-pie" Libretto's created for Occupy Wall Street is 99% cheese, 1% salami, but unfortunately our federal spending pie is 48% war funds that benefit the 1%. Help keep the "Bring Our War $$ Home" message loud and clear at Occupy Together actions nationwide. The best way to pay for our needs at home is to end war.

Haven't joined your local Occupy action yet? October 15 would be a great day to start-people around the world are going to gather in solidarity to initiate global change . Find your local action here. Don't miss out on being part of this historic movement.

p.s. The Afghanistan war anniversary prompted some powerful actions from our Ground the Drones campaign. CODEPINK was at the forefront of the protests at Creech Air Force Base and the National Air and Space Museum, where protestors, including our own Medea Benjamin, were pepper sprayed . As she reminded us, though, pepper spray is nothing compared to what innocent civilians face when drones rain bombs down on their communities. To find out what you can do to ground the drones, visit our campaign page.
